The executive committee, operated by members of the Uzo Nishiyama Memorial Library in Japan and Department of Architecture and Planning, Faculty of Engineering, Gadjah Mada University, Indonesia, hosts the international conference on Sustainable Community that many Asian countries are confronted. The aims and of the symposium is:Aims of the Symposium
Although Yogyakarta was heavily damaged by a big earthquake in May 2006, now all kinds of efforts to rebuild are proceeding there. Also in Japan, we know the earthquake disaster and reconstruction in Kobe. In addition, many Asian countries and areas are making great efforts for communalities regeneration against earthquake disasters. Furthermore, the regeneration of housing and regional settlements for healthy and comfortable environment is one of the critical issues in many Asian cities and regions with rapid urbanization. In the other hand, Japan now opens the door of rapid aging and depopulation era. The actions for regeneration are needed against regional and urban decline.
The international conference aims to discuss community regeneration as well as sustainable development in Asian cities and regions.Host organizations
